Prada: The Book

Prada released a new book exposing projects in which the brand has accomplished through the years in fashion, communication, architecture, film and art. This book represents the characteristics of this huge brand from all scopes which influenced the ideas, originality and modernization of the world. Fashion, luxury and style to Prada are beyond the production of clothes, shoes, and bags. Its creativity and modernity interact with the world, society, and culture which made it not just a piece of cloth, but a name of pride and style.

The book documents the brand work in fashion, architecture, film and art over the last three decades in 708 pages. It was visualized and edited by Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli and the concept was to reflect the creative output of the company from the design studio and workshop, partnerships and photographers, designers, architects and films directors, all the way to the art foundation and the development of the new museum.

The book is divided into two halves. The first half focusing on the company processes, dynamics, design and exhibition strategies. Thumbnail pictures of 3,885 different “looks” made by Prada are included in the book. Collages of the most influential shoes and bags and photographs of the final products on the runway are also presented.

The second half mentions the accounts of the celebrated store designs in New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo, film collaboration, animated short film project and a costume design for a Japanese manga heroine. Few chapters do focus on Prada on the street and on celebrities photographed on the red carpet, as well as highlighting all of Prada’s ad campaign since 1987 and the work of world’s leading photographers.

The book concludes with the future plans of the company including a proposal for a new museum, now underway, based in the industrial outskirts of Milan.
